Who Are We?

Ebert Machine Company is a family-owned business started in 1940 as a tool-making concern by Maynard and Thelma Ebert. Gradually, the business has shifted from tool-making to contract machining. In 1961, the business moved to its present location 1.5 miles south of Peru on Indiana Highway 19.

Joel Ebert, the current president and third generation in the business, follows in the footsteps of his late father Herb, who oversaw the expansion of the business from its beginning until his untimely death in December, 2002. Weldon Ebert, Herb's brother, is plant manager and oversees shop operations. Today we have approximately 25,000 square feet under roof and employ about 40-50 production workers and an office staff of five.

Thrift Products is a subsidiary business run by the family at the same location to diversify operations, though we have never sought to bring it to the level of activity at which the machining business operates. Thrift Products manufactures hot water heating valves and fittings. We purchase and machine red brass castings and assemble them into valves that are sold through trade distributors.
